Leaked Information: Resident Evil 1 Will Get Another Remake in the Near Future
Following the success of Resident Evil Requiem, rumors began circulating that Capcom was planning a full remake of the first game.
Resident Evil 1 might be remade again.
The first game, released in 1996, pioneered the survival horror genre and launched one of the most successful franchises. It was first remade in 2002, offering a fresh approach to the original. Graphics were improved, entirely new gameplay mechanics were added, along with new characters, new storyline elements, and a more chilling atmosphere.
Resident Evil 1 was remade once.
The game was followed by a remake of Resident Evil 2, bringing back the over-the-shoulder style similar to RE4 , then Resident Evil 3 Remake , and then a remake of Resident Evil 4. Now it seems Capcom wants to remake the original story once again. Essentially, the original and the 2002 remake still use a fixed perspective, instead of the over-the-shoulder view of the later remakes. Therefore, it's possible Capcom wants consistency across all four games.
Both the original and the remake use a fixed camera angle.
According to the well-known leaker AestheticGamer , the second remake of Resident Evil 1 is currently in early development and could take another 4 to 7 years to release. However, this person also suggests that the project could very well be canceled.
Besides creating similarities, this new remake will likely add a first-person perspective. The first-person perspective used in the three most recent games has been praised for providing a more immersive experience, so exploring Spencer Mansion from this viewpoint would be very interesting.
Resident Evil 1 Remake might be a few more years away.
Of course, allowing users to flexibly switch between first-person and third-person perspectives would certainly attract more people. With Resident Evil 1 Remake still several years away from release, AestheticGamer reports that there are other projects planned for earlier release. A notable example is a remastered version, possibly in 2027. A remake of Resident Evil 0 is also rumored to be released in 2028, along with Resident Evil 10, which is planned for release in 2029.
It also seems to be in the planning stages for a remake.
Currently, these plans are subject to change and delays, but Capcom is usually quite strict with its game release schedules, especially with the Resident Evil franchise. 2031 is considered a suitable timeframe for the release of RE1 Remake, as it marks the 35th anniversary of the franchise's launch. Nothing beats returning to where it all began.
