Resident Evil 5 Remake Will Have One Segment That Requires Significant Changes

Resident Evil 5 is one of the games rumored to be getting a remake, and if that's true, there's one segment Capcom needs to focus on revamping to better suit modern experiences.

Hilarious boss fight scene in Resident Evil 5

Following its success in 2023, there have been many predictions that the next game to be remade will be  Resident Evil 5.  Although currently much of the information points more towards  Code: Veronica  , if  Capcom  decides to remake this action-packed game, there is one segment that deserves special attention: the confrontation with  Jill Valentine  and  Albert Wesker

In the original game, this segment became famous after generating a series of memes online. However, from a gameplay perspective, it wasn't particularly interesting, as  Jill Valentine  was mostly  mind-controlled by Albert Wesker  , becoming a soulless puppet. Therefore, the remake will certainly have to make this confrontation more engaging, at least to match one of the main characters of the  Resident Evil franchise .

To be fair, the boss fight scenario in  Resident Evil 5  remains one of  Capcom 's most innovative design styles, as it introduced a 2v2 battle for the first time in the survival horror franchise. However, upon implementation, fans discovered it wasn't as engaging as expected. The initial phase of the fight mainly focused on dodging attacks and dealing enough damage to  Wesker  to trigger the next phase.

At this point, the player must aim and shoot at the  P50  device attached to Jill's chest, then perform a series of QTE actions to  free Jill  from mind control. Notably, the player can completely fail if they accidentally kill  Jill . From understanding the specific conditions of the boss fight to having to accurately shoot the device on  Jill's chest  enough times, it creates an extremely uncomfortable sense of tension. It's different from the tension of traditional survival horror experiences.

Innovation is needed to avoid dependence on QTEs.

From the outset,  Resident Evil 5  was marketed as a co-op game, featuring two main characters, Jill and Jill. However, players can absolutely play solo with the other character controlled by AI. For most of the game, there are no major issues. However, when it comes to confronting  Jill,  the need to work together to subdue her demonstrates the benefits of having two players (or not, if playing with a close friend).

Furthermore, the repetitive use of QTEs (Quick Time Events) in escape sequences is a peculiar characteristic of games from the 2000s. Capcom demonstrated that they can completely avoid relying on QTEs with Resident  Evil 4 Remake,  specifically the knife fight with  Jack Krauser.

Therefore, if there's a 2v2 boss fight with  Jill Valentine  and  Albert Wesker,  adjustments will definitely be needed. At the very least, it should give the player the feeling that they are actually facing two of the most formidable agents.
