Resident Evil Requiem: The Overall Story Before the Events of the Game (Part 2)
Following the destruction of Raccoon City, the fight against biological weapons has now erupted worldwide, drawing in numerous parties with diverse objectives.
The global fight against bioterrorism
Following this event, Umbrella gradually collapsed, but bioterrorism continued to spread. In Resident Evil – Code: Veronica, Claire is kidnapped by Umbrella and imprisoned in a secret prison. She manages to escape just before Chris arrives, and he discovers she is still alive. Umbrella is even trying to steal a variant of the T-Veronica virus . Chris rescues Claire in Antarctica , but Wesker manages to escape.
The story jumps to 2004, when Leon Kennedy is now a U.S. government agent. He's tasked with rescuing the President's daughter from a village in Spain. There, he discovers the villagers are infected with a parasite called Las Plagas , and he reunites with Ada Wong, who is collecting samples of the virus to bring back to Wesker .
Ultimately, although both Ashley and Leon were infected with the Las Plagas parasite , they were later vaccinated and returned to safety. In 2009, Chris Redfield, then a member of the BSSA ( Biological Terrorism Service ) , was investigating a biological weapons trafficking case in Africa with his new partner, Sheva Alomar . There, local people were infected with a new variant of Las Plagas , derived from the Progenitor virus , which is produced through a flower called Stailway of the Sun.
It is also here that Chris discovers Jill is still alive but mind-controlled by Wesker . He is collaborating with the Tricel Corporation, Umbrella 's rival , to spread a variant of the Uroboros virus. Ultimately, Chris rescues Jill and defeats Wesker, thus ending yet another bioterrorist plot. In Resident Evil 6, the world faces another pandemic involving the C-Virus , the next variant of the Progenitor Virus , created by the villainous organization Neo-Umbrella.
From here, a large-scale conflict erupts across the globe, involving many familiar figures such as Leon S. Kennedy, Chris Redfield, Ada , and many others. After a series of complex events, the forces of good ultimately prevail, and each character continues on their own path. Most importantly, Chris Redfield continues to serve in the BSAA , maintaining his role in the fight against bioterrorism.
The story of Ethan Winters and Megamycete
In Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, fans are introduced to a new character, Ethan. He travels to the Baker family ranch in Louisiana to search for his wife, Mia Winters , after receiving a video from her. Upon arriving, he discovers that the Baker family has been transformed into strange, bloodthirsty creatures. Through a series of events, Ethan uncovers the truth: it all stems from Eveline , a bioweapon created by The Connection , the organization where Mia secretly works.
Ethan and Mia are later rescued by Chris Redfield and the BSAA , but this time working for the Umbrella Corporation , an organization formed after Umbrella's downfall to deal with its aftermath . Things escalate three years later, when Chris unexpectedly appears at Ethan's house, shoots Mia dead , and then kidnaps him and his daughter, Rosemary . An accident occurs, Rosemary disappears, and as Ethan follows her trail, he arrives at a mysterious village.
Here, all the mysteries gradually unfold: Mia , whom Chris shot and killed at the beginning of the game, was actually an imposter. She was initially just a mother who lost her child after the Spanish flu pandemic, but she accidentally discovered the ancient mold entity Megamycete . From there, she became Spencer 's mentor in founding Umbrella and creating the viruses that followed. Finally, Ethan saves Rosemary, but only then is the truth revealed: Ethan had actually died while still at the Baker family farm . His body was regenerated thanks to Eveline 's mold .
In the end, Ethan sacrifices himself to prevent the Megamycete from spreading globally, while Chris Redfield returns to the BSAA to investigate the incident where his soldiers were turned into biological weapons. He also helps the girl become a BSAA agent, and in another storyline, she is reunited with her father, albeit briefly.
Step into Resident Evil Requiem
All these events lead to Resident Evil Requiem, when Leon S. Kennedy returns to Raccoon City to investigate the debilitating illness affecting survivors of the events of the past. At the same time, Grace Ashcroft, the daughter of journalist Alyssa Ashcroft, is also kidnapped and brought to the city.
The two met to continue opening a new chapter in the fight against biological weapons, while simultaneously bringing to a close a story spanning nearly 30 years after the zombie pandemic first broke out.
