Developers of Escape From Tarkov Reveal First Images of Project COR3

One of the original founders of Escape from Tarkov has just given fans the first teaser for his brand new game, COR3 – a dark-themed sci-fi shooter.

Tarkov made a huge splash right from its Closed Beta phase in 2017. Battlestate Games ' survival shooter quickly gained popularity on streaming platforms thanks to its captivating gameplay loop. After more than a decade of development and continuous updates, Tarkov finally officially launched its full version in late 2025. Throughout that process, the studio's founder has consistently been one of the game's most prominent figures.

Since Tarkov became popular, Nikita Buyanov has become a household name in the community. He currently serves as COO of Battlestate Games, the company he founded in 2012 to develop Escape from Tarkov . Buyanov was also directly involved in the game's development, serving as director and composing much of the soundtrack himself.

And despite only recently being officially launched, Buyanov is already ready to introduce his next big project. Specifically, he recently released a teaser revealing the first images of  COR3  with a rather noteworthy premise.

The teaser begins with an image of a soldier standing amidst the ruins of a destroyed city, then zooms out to reveal the main setting is the planet Mars. The planet's orbit is littered with wrecked spacecraft and the bodies of astronauts floating in space. A remaining space station appears to be being used for reconnaissance and investigation of the mysterious disaster. The announcement of COR3 also included an interactive website, revealing more details about the game's setting and concept.

COR3 was developed in parallel with Escape From Tarkov.

According to the official website, the game is set in the year 2251, more than two centuries in the future. The story revolves around an organization called [Name of organization], a force that has 'reversed mutual destruction' and is focused on restoring human civilization and 'unifying governments worldwide'.  The website also features interactive elements, allowing fans to sign up for email newsletters and explore various lore snippets about the COR3 universe . However, neither the trailer nor the website has revealed an official release date.

Promising to be a science fiction adventure centered around humanity on the brink of extinction, the trailer doesn't reveal much about the gameplay, aside from a few short seconds showing a first-person shooter perspective, suggesting this will be a new FPS title from Battlestate Games . A notable detail is that the astronaut suits in the trailer feature a red star symbol – an image often associated with Russia.

The announcement of COR3 comes amidst a flurry of major news. Battlestate Games confirmed its first official collaboration with the parody game Escape from Duckov . Additionally, the company revealed significant plans for 2026, including new maps and important gameplay mechanics, such as breaking door locks. Battlestate Games is clearly aiming for bigger strides, both with Escape from Tarkov and COR3 .
